Many years ago, when faced with a life-threatening illness, Richard turned to Yoga as an alternative therapy. Mortality became a great vehicle of motivation for him as things he once took for granted became ever so present.
Richard embarked on his path of Yoga studies and teaching. Along with his regular classes, Richard specializes in teaching persons with special needs. He gratefully acknowledges that this community has deepened his inner awareness and his yoga practice as well, allowing him to reveal and express his true self. Because the only requirement for Yoga is breath, those who are in wheelchairs, have been diagnosed with cancer or HIV/AIDS can all share its joys and benefits. Richard classes are infused with his playful sprit and gentle touch.
Through a combination of asana, pranayama, visualization and stillness, each class is intellectually as well as physically stimulating. He creates a safe space for people; making them feel at ease and allowing for a sense of well-being. He gratefully acknowledges all his teachers and feels his best instructors are ultimately students themselves.
A native of Coconut Grove, Florida, Richard is a certified instructor through Yoga Alliance and has an advanced certification in Prenatal Yoga.
