Manipura chakra translates to lustrous gem and its location in the body is at the solar plexus, right above the navel and adrenal glands. We enter this energy center, rising up from the first two to embrace the current of consciousness that descends from the upper chakras. Because this is where the body´s battery is stored, it is the place where we get those butterfly feelings when we feel scared or powerless. It is here that we develop strength and courage. When this chakra is lacking energy we often feel intimidated and have low self esteem; however, when it has too much energy we can be controlling, competitive and stubborn. Opening and balancing Manipura sparks the flame of our will and determination. It represents our "get up and go," our action, our vitality, and our sense of personal power.
This workshop will consist of twists, lateral bends and some backbends. Kapalabhati, a rapid diaphragmatic breathing, will be
performed to detoxify the body, raise the internal fire and stimulate the ascending current of energy. The practice will conclude with an empowerment meditation and a nice long savasana!
"Fire awakens us from our passive slumber, sparking consciousness into understanding. Understanding tempers the fire, binding raw energy into power, direction, and transformation." Anodea Judith
Increasing strength and range of motion around the hip joint is an essential element of our yoga practice as well as our every day lives. This workshop is designed to breakthrough the weakness and congestion in our hips caused by our sedentary patterns as well as mental and emotional stress that is almost always stored in that area of the body. We´ll be working with deep hip and psoas movements designed to strengthen us from the inside out, focusing on penetrating the connective tissue, stimulating weak muscles and releasing tension throughout the entire body.
